Notes

Slender blazing star (Liatris cylindracea) is a perennial for borders, meadows, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. Rose purple flowers form a long spike with up to 150 flowerheads, and they attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees. Seedlings can pop up in large numbers, so pull extras if you want to limit spread.

Pairs well with Poppy mallow, Blue grama, and Jersey tea.
