Notes
Shaggy blazing star (Liatris elegantula) is a perennial for woodland, meadow, and naturalized gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows from a corm each year, so mark the spot to avoid digging it up. Pink, purple, or violet flowers open from late summer into autumn and attract bees. The narrow leaves give it a light, airy look.
Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Beautyberry, and Red spider lily.
