Notes
Smallhead blazing star (Liatris microcephala) is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Purple flowers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Amsonia, Creeping phlox, and Butterfly bush.
