Notes
'Shūtōkō' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Shūtōkō') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its woody stems stay above ground through winter, so you only need to trim dead wood in spring. Cut the blooms for a vase to enjoy them indoors.
Pairs well with Halcyon hosta, Lenten rose, Prairie dropseed, and Black Parrot tulip.
