Notes

'Siegfried' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Siegfried') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Dark red flowers are semi-double to double, with the double form most common, and they reach 7 inches across. Stems stay red at flowering and the new foliage opens dark red. Michael Miely bred it in 2009.

Pairs well with New England aster, Siberian iris, and Sedge.
