Notes

Smooth blackberry (Rubus canadensis) is a fruit for hedges, food gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. White flowers open in spring, summer, and autumn, and they draw butterflies, bees, and birds. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Give it room, since it can spread more than 10 feet wide.

Pairs well with Virginia strawberry, Victoria rhubarb, and Jacob's ladder.
