Notes

'Smoutii' peony (Paeonia 'Smoutii') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Satiny dark cherry flowers carry a strong fragrance and attract butterflies and bees. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. The deep cut leaves look good even when the plant is not in bloom.

Pairs well with Abiqua Drinking Gourd hosta, Indian grass, and Nodding onion.
