Notes

'Solemnity' peony (Paeonia 'Solemnity') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Crimson blooms darken toward the center and open in early to late spring. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with False indigo, Big bluestem, and Niobe clematis.
