Notes

'Southern Lights' peony (Paeonia 'Southern Lights') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Cream blooms with carmine-pink edges and apricot shading open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Derek Irvine bred it.

Pairs well with Mountain laurel, Sundrops, Ostrich fern, and Pink Impression tulip.
