Notes
'Spanish Gold' peony (Paeonia 'Spanish Gold') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Light yellow double flowers with silvery edges open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Arthur Percy Saunders bred it in 1948.
Pairs well with Sundrops, Blue flag, Ostrich fern, and Cornflower.
