Notes
'Sparkler Lavender' spider flower (Cleome houtteana 'Sparkler Lavender') is an annual for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is tender to cold, and the first hard frost will kill it. This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. The fragrant blooms attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds. It is not a favorite of rabbits, though hungry rabbits will eat almost anything. Plants reach 24 to 36 inches tall and wide, and they handle dry spells well.
Pairs well with Mexican sunflower, Snapdragon, and First Knight fountain grass.
