Notes
'Speedway Flame' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Speedway Flame') is a perennial for borders, cut flower gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fire red flowers have broad outer petals and a center of smaller petals. They stand on strong stems, and you can cut them with long stems for bouquets. Dr. Earl B.N. White bred it, and Gilbert H. Wild and Son introduced it in 1961.
Pairs well with Pale purple coneflower, Royal fern, and Spanish bluebell.
