Notes

'Sprich' Virginia sweetspire (Itea virginica 'Sprich') is a shrub for hedges, rain gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. Fragrant flowers bloom in spring and summer and bring butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Swamp milkweed, Inkberry, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Autumn fern.
