Notes

'Scentlandia' Virginia sweetspire (Itea virginica 'Scentlandia') is a shrub for pollinator gardens, hedges, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun and average to wet soil. Its arching branches carry fragrant flowers that draw butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It is also drought tolerant.

Pairs well with Inkberry, Northwind switchgrass, and Dogwood.
