Notes

'Sarah Eve' Virginia sweetspire (Itea virginica 'Sarah Eve') is a shrub for pollinator gardens, hedges, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. The fragrant white flowers have pink pedicels and attract butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. It blooms in spring and again in summer on arching stems. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Swamp milkweed, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Ostrich fern.
