Notes

'Smnivmm' Virginia sweetspire (Itea virginica 'Smnivmm') is a shrub for pollinator gardens, hedges, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil. Creamy white, fragrant flowers open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms. Deer rarely make it their first choice. The arching stems reach 24 to 36 inches tall and wide.

Pairs well with Inkberry, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Ostrich fern.
