Notes

'Squaw' switchgrass (Panicum virgatum 'Squaw') is a grass for borders, rain gardens, naturalized areas, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy or clay soil. It forms a tidy clump with red summer blooms, and butterflies and birds visit it. Deer tend to pass it by.

Pairs well with Blue wild indigo, Big bluestem, and Oakleaf hydrangea.
