Notes

'The Giant' globe thistle (Echinops bannaticus 'The Giant') is a perennial for back of the border plantings, specimen use, and cut or dried flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry soil. The tennis ball-sized spheres start white and age to light blue on tall vertical stems. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms in summer.

Pairs well with Dark Towers beardtongue, Porcupinegrass, and Blue Chip creeping juniper.
