Notes

'Storm Warning' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Storm Warning') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Violet-red flowers with dark maroon flares open in mid spring and look like approaching storm clouds. Nate Bremer bred it. The upright, vase-shaped plant reaches about 48 inches, and its new leaves emerge red.

Pairs well with Inkberry, Standing Ovation little bluestem, Carnaval De Nice tulip, and Ironweed.
