Notes
Subarctic ladyfern (Athyrium filix-femina) is a fern for shade gardens, woodland settings, borders, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The light green fronds are finely cut and can look dainty even though the clump grows large. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. It tolerates seasonal flooding but not drought.
Pairs well with Victory hosta, Canadian white violet, and Autumn crocus.
