Notes

'Taiga' clematis (Clematis 'Taiga') is a vine for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The purple flowers have light yellow edges and upward curving sepals that form a star shape. Masatake Udagawa bred it, and the blooms attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Garden phlox, and Casa Blanca lily.
