Notes
'Toy Soldier' peony (Paeonia 'Toy Soldier') is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, cottage gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Scarlet single flowers with golden stamens bloom high above the clean green foliage. The blooms have a sweet musk scent, and bees and butterflies visit them.
Pairs well with Catnip, Praying Hands hosta, and Little bluestem.
