Notes

'Tuff Stuff Red' mountain hydrangea (Hydrangea serrata 'Tuff Stuff Red') is a shrub for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It stays 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. Deep pink flowers with tiny chartreuse centers bloom first on old wood in early summer, then on new wood through autumn. Bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Autumn fern, and Toad lily.
