Notes

Turkistan onion (Allium nevskianum) is a bulb for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Pink flowers open in spring and bring butterflies and bees, and the blue paired leaves add color. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Its fragrant blooms and small size suit tight spots.

Pairs well with Sea holly, Rock rose, and Casa Blanca lily.
