Notes
'Twilite' wild indigo (Baptisia variicolor 'Twilite') is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. Violet-purple flowers with a yellow keel open in spring and again in summer, and butterflies and hummingbirds visit the blooms. It is not a favorite of rabbits, though hungry rabbits will eat almost anything. Give it room, since it can reach almost five feet wide.
Pairs well with Album nettle-leaved mullein, Hardy geranium, Gladiolus, and Blue fescue.
