Notes

'Velvet Princess' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Velvet Princess') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The velvety dark red flowers are a crown type that looks like a small bomb. Tiny white tips show on the stiff petaloids. It grows about twenty-five inches tall with clean dark green foliage and good stems.

Pairs well with Abiqua Drinking Gourd hosta, Little bluestem, Bobo hydrangea, and Queen of Night tulip.
