Notes

'Venosa Violacea' clematis (Clematis 'Venosa Violacea') is a vine for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Victor Lemoine bred this vine, and bees and hummingbirds visit its violet flowers with rose-colored center bands. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Give the vine a trellis or fence to climb.

Pairs well with Beauty of Cobham spotted beebalm, Alpine aster, and Little bluestem.
