Notes

'Venus' dogwood (Cornus elwinortonii 'Venus') is a tree for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Huge creamy-white bracts cover it in spring, and small red fruits follow in autumn. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It makes a fine specimen in the lawn or at the back of the bed.

Pairs well with Siebold's hosta, Lady's mantle, and Pale yellow-eyed grass.
