Notes

'Vesuvian' peony (Paeonia 'Vesuvian') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The double rose-form blooms are dark red with purple undertones, and butterflies visit them in spring and early summer. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Arthur Percy Saunders bred it.

Pairs well with Green Spice coral bells, Primrose, and Blue Arrow Rocky mountain juniper.
