Notes

'Virginia Gold' apple (Malus domestica 'Virginia Gold') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station bred it in 1944 from Newtown Pippin and Golden Delicious. Bees visit the spring flowers. The fruit is picked late in the season and keeps for 1 to 2 months.

Pairs well with Pink Lemonade blueberry, June hosta, and Big bluestem.
