Notes

'Virginia Lee' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Virginia Lee') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, full double blooms open pink with a deeper glow in the center and fade to blush. They open late and reliably. The stems cut well but can be a bit weak in the field, so you may want to give them support.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Black Hero tulip, and Wild ginger.
