Notes
'Wally' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Wally') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The single dark magenta red blooms have a double row of rounded guard petals. Each stem carries three buds, and the flowers open in mid to late spring and early summer. William Henry Krekler bred it, and it stays short and stocky at about 22 inches.
Pairs well with Aromatic aster, Japanese spirea, and Cinnamon fern.
