Notes

'West Elkton' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'West Elkton') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. William Henry Krekler bred it. The Japanese type blooms are dark red with cream-edged centers and cover the plant in late spring to early summer.

Pairs well with Invincibelle Ruby smooth hydrangea, Spanish bluebell, and Sensitive fern.
