Notes

'Wine Angel' peony (Paeonia 'Wine Angel') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its fragrant flowers are purple blended with rose and reach 10 to 12 inches across. Vivian Christenson bred it, and it blooms in early midseason. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Queen of Night tulip, Prairie dropseed, Halcyon hosta, and Miss Kim lilac.
