Notes

'Xetare' peony (Paeonia 'Xetare') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears cute, fragrant, scarlet single flowers about 15 inches tall, and butterflies and bees visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. William Henry Krekler bred it.

Pairs well with White Feather hosta, PowWow White coneflower, Little bluestem, and Pink Impression tulip.
