Notes

'Yamachina' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Yamachina') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It blooms in early to mid spring with large, single flowers in amaranth purple. The carpels have red tips, and the red disk in the center is easy to see. The plant is large and spreading, so give it room.

Pairs well with Virginia spiderwort, Carnation, Cinnamon fern, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
