Notes

'Abilene' clematis (Clematis 'Abilene') is a vine for containers, cottage gardens, specimen use, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Its deep pink blooms have darker stripes and age to pink, and bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit them. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Mogens Nyegaard Olesen bred it in 2011.

Pairs well with Clarence iris, Black-eyed Susan, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
