Notes

'Acicularis' prickly wild rose (Rosa acicularis 'Acicularis') is a shrub for borders, hedges, cottage gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Georges Bugnet bred it. The fragrant flowers draw bees and butterflies, and red rose hips follow. Thorny stems make it a good barrier, so give it room to arch.

Pairs well with Abbotswood shrubby cinquefoil, Nannyberry viburnum, and Red fescue.
