Notes

Prickly wild rose (Rosa acicularis) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 1, or down to -60°F (-51°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant pink flowers open on thorny, arching stems and give way to red rose hips. Native bees and butterflies visit the blooms. Fungal problems can occur, so give it good air flow.

Pairs well with Russet buffaloberry, Rocky mountain juniper, and American aspen.
