Notes

Adam's needle (Yucca filamentosa) is a shrub for border, rock garden, accent, and xeriscape use. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. A 6 ft. flowering stalk rises above clumps of dagger-like leaves and bears nodding, creamy white flowers. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Hummingbirds visit the flowers, and yucca moths pollinate them.

Pairs well with Butterfly milkweed, Prairie dropseed, and New Jersey tea.
