Notes

'Akashigata' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Akashigata') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It has a large, spreading habit with dark foliage. The Japanese type flowers open lilac-pink or carmine-pink in mid to late spring. Many blooms stand well above the leaves, so they make good cut stems.

Pairs well with Spanish bluebell, Carnation, and Foxtail barley.
