Notes

'Alhambra' peony (Paeonia 'Alhambra') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Fragrant, ruffled golden-yellow blooms with red flares open in early to late spring. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Prof. Arthur Percy Saunders bred it.

Pairs well with Mock orange, Elegans hosta, Blue fescue, and Stargazer lily.
