Notes

'Alice' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Alice') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Dark clear red double flowers open in early summer on heavy stems about 30 inches tall. Side buds open almost as soon as the central flower, so each cluster looks like one bloom. William Henry Krekler bred it.

Pairs well with Siberian iris, False Solomon's seal, and Spanish bluebell.
