Notes

American cranberrybush (Viburnum opulus var. americanum) is a shrub for borders, hedges, woodland plantings, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet soil of most types. Flat white flower clusters give way to persistent red berries that songbirds and gamebirds visit. It sits low on the menu for deer. The maple-like leaves turn colorful in fall.

Pairs well with Red elderberry, Cinnamon fern, Switchgrass, and Witch hazel.
