Notes

Amur honeysuckle (Lonicera maackii) is a shrub for shade gardens and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer tend to pass it by. The fragrant white flowers age to yellow in spring and early summer, and butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit them. Its arching branches grow fast, so give it plenty of room.

Pairs well with Northern bayberry, Royal fern, and Sedge.
