Notes

'Serotina' common honeysuckle (Lonicera periclymenum 'Serotina') is a vine for borders, cottage gardens, pollinator gardens, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. The fragrant flowers open dark red outside and yellow and white inside, and red berries follow in late summer and fall. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Let it climb a fence, trellis, or pergola.

Pairs well with Jackmanii clematis, Limelight hydrangea, Amsonia, and Little bluestem.
