Notes

Amur lilac (Syringa reticulata) is a tree for specimen planting, borders, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Creamy white flowers open in late spring, and they smell sweet. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit the blooms. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Pagoda dogwood, Western sword fern, and Cheerfulness daffodil.
