Notes
'Morton' amur lilac (Syringa reticulata 'Morton') is a tree for specimen, border, privacy screen, and pollinator garden uses. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant flowers open from early to late summer and draw butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It also tolerates drought and salt.
Pairs well with Rowan, Ernest Markham clematis, Double Play Doozie spirea, and Angelique tulip.
