Notes

'Angelic Surprise' peony (Paeonia 'Angelic Surprise') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Raspberry red, fragrant flowers open in early to late spring and attract butterflies and bees. The upright plants need no support.

Pairs well with Earth Angel hosta, Pale purple coneflower, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
