Notes
'Antiquum' bird's nest fern (Asplenium nidus 'Antiquum') is a fern for containers, specimen planting, and accent use in the shade garden. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 10 and warmer, down to about 30°F (-1°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It forms an arching clump that grows slowly. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Give it room to spread 36 to 48 inches wide.
Pairs well with Blue star fern, Harlequin pothos, Curly Fireflush begonia, and Wee Bit Grumpy bigleaf hydrangea.
